I’m also a long-time resident of Baja California Sur, Mexico.
I grew up in a small rural town in eastern Ontario, Canada, far from the sea, in a place where generations stayed close to home. I didn’t. My first career took me north instead—into Arctic field research, working as a botanist on environmental impact studies in some of the most remote landscapes on earth. I learned early how to pay attention: to weather, to terrain, to what’s beneath the surface.
Eventually, that same instinct carried me south, toward warm water and open horizons. I came to Baja more than two decades ago to learn to surf, and ended up finding an entirely different life. The ocean that drew me here became both teacher and mirror—demanding presence, humility, courage, and grace.
What followed was shaped not only by waves, but by the people I met along the way — through surfing, love, and friendship. Stillness mattered, too — through yoga, meditation, and the practice of focusing inward.
Baja shaped me through conservation work, community, and the ongoing act of beginning again. It is a landscape that changes people—quietly, completely—if they let it.
Today I live on the East Cape with my rescue dogs, balancing a life in real estate with a life on the page. I represent buyers and sellers throughout Los Cabos, but writing remains at the center of how I make meaning—through stories of place, loss, and the wild beauty that endures.
My work—on the water, on the land, and in language—is rooted in the same pursuit: to live with honesty, to pay attention, and to keep moving toward what feels true.
